October 2014 - Part 1

The beginning of October we took a mini-vaca to the Florida Aquarium in Tampa and to Legoland in Winter Haven.

It was 'Homeschool Day' at the aquarium
which means it was only $5.00/person.
WHOA!
Safe to say that homeschoolers LOVE the
aquarium because they all seemed
to show up that day.
It was insanely packed.
That kind of 'packed' that just makes you miserable.
You walk along, and you feel like you should be 'mooing' too because you have apparently became apart of a herd of cattle.
It's probably a great aquarium,
but we saw mostly people's heads.
And good to know info...take swimwear because there is an outside water play area that would have been cool to play in.

Tampa Traffic

This was humorous.
We stayed all night in a hotel.
This was our view from our balcony.
A wall.

Outside line to get inside the aquarium.
In a billion degrees, mind you.

Legos in fish tanks

The boys are saying to the fish,
"Haha, you are in school, and we're not!"

I had a little surprise up my sleeve
for when we left the aquarium.
I found a nut-free bakery in Tampa!

Yeah, he was in heaven to be able to
pick ANYthing he wanted here.

Legoland parking lot when we arrived.
EMPTY!
We didn't get there until probably around 11:00ish.
We also went to Legoland on a 'Homeschool Day',
BUT I didn't print our tickets offline so they wouldn't honor the homeschool price which was going to be $70 for all four of us to get in.  Instead, we had to pay close to $200 for tickets which is sadly still a 'discounted price'.

This is the first ride we rode.
It's a big circular thing you just sit in,
and it takes you up and spins you ever so slowly so that you can see the whole park.  This is when I realized that, "Hmmm....maybe I have developed a fear of heights."

Watching a 4-D movie.

Watched the pirate show.
This is when my camera died.
Boooo....oh well.
It was a fun 2-day trip!

September 2014 - Part 3

Most of everyone knows by now that we lost Henry's brother, Tony, to a heart attack December 2013.  His death is what sparked this RV-lifestyle.  Back in September, Henry's mom invited all of his brother's best friends over to her house for a cook-out.  It was a good time full of good food, football, laughs, and memories.

Here's his mom with his friends.
Notice she is holding a picture of Tony.

Here's Tony's friends with their wives.

Soccer:  A local car dealership  (Chevrolet)
donated money and gear to Scott's soccer league.

Here's a group shot of most of the kids in the league.

The library had a 4-week Florida history class.

At the end of each class, there was craft time.

Making a pinch pot like the Indians.

The homeschool co-op that we joined had
Park Days on Fridays.

LOOK AT THIS!

It's a HUGE caterpillar.
This picture shows its size in comparison to my foot.

Henry's mom celebrated her birthday in September!
This is Henry walking with his dad and mom to eat dinner at Joe's Crab Shack on the Daytona Beach Pier.

The boys with their Oma.
They made her homemade cards
and picked out potted flowers for her.

I made some homemade cupcakes.

Nature class this month was titled,
"The Art and Science of Soil".

The 'soil' was sand.
They got to dig deep to see the
many different layers of the soil.

The soil changes colors the deeper it gets.

Then they had to find their soil in the color-coded book.
Who knew there was a color-coded book for soil?!

These were soil sifters.

They painted with soil.

They painted with berries.

Sage showing off a deer jaw.

To make paint with the soil,
just add water to the different colors.

This is a very normal scene in our RV.

We visited the Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona.
Henry used to play baseball on this field.

Every gate was locked.
We couldn't see the field at all.

So this actually happened in August.
Henry's best friend and his family came to our campground and rented this tiny cabin for a night.
Too bad they couldn't actually
stay all night due to ants in their beds!
