October 2014 - Part 3

This Halloween we participated in the 'Teal Pumpkin Project'.
We painted a pumpkin teal to show others that we had non-food treats available during 'Trick-or-Treat'.
Kids with food allergies are unable to eat most candy.
Sage is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts so he can't eat about 85% of the candy that is handed out for 'Trick-or-Treat'.
(Even if candy doesn't actually have peanuts or tree nuts in it, a lot of it is made in the same facility or on the same lines of candies that do contain peanuts or tree nuts, making it not safe for him to eat).
We also avoid artificial everything which knocks off EVERY candy off the list.  However, my boys still love dressing up in costumes and going door-to-door with their friends.
They are still kids.

Another nature class this month.
The title was, 'Animal Tracks'.
Here is Scott playing in the sand while the
teacher talked to the rest of the kids.
Notice he is wearing a tie.
He's a 'tie wearing guy'.

We met up with some of Henry's friends for dinner at Red Robin.  They have a 3-year-old son.  We then went to the 'BandShell' on the Daytona Beach Pavilion to listen to some other friends play music.
'Are Friends Electric'

Henry's dad and sister also came to listen to the music.
The boys had fun running around with glo-sticks.

The 'BandShell' is located right on the beach.
You can't see in this picture, but the ocean is right behind the boys in this picture.

I don't know why all these pictures are sideways.
They are not sideways before I uploaded them to here.

Biscuit making time!

Scott loves to help make biscuits!

This is the oven I have to work with...
it is very small.  One rack.

Homeschool co-op morning.
The first 15 minutes of co-op is chapel time.

This day of co-op the boy's Florida History class
had a 'Pirate Parade' throughout the church.  They threw out candy and trinkets to all the kids in classrooms.

Park Day with the homeschool co-op.
(UGH.  Don't know why all these pics are sideways!)

Excitement in the campground.
Class A Motorhome got stuck between trees.
Did some damage.  :-(

When you homeschool, you can do
your schoolwork in any position that
is comfortable to you.
AND in pajamas!

These are some of the non-food items
we put in our teal pumpkin for trick-or-treaters.

Best way to decorate a pumpkin.
$1 plastic face decorations from The Dollar Tree.

Our campground had a golf cart parade for Halloween.

For trick-or-treat, we went over to
our friend's house so we could go
around their neighborhood.

Trick-or-Treating in Florida is a little different than in Ohio.

The Switch Witch came!
So since my boys can't eat trick-or-treat candy,
the 'Switch Witch' comes and takes away that candy
and leaves them 'safe' candy and little gifts.
These are their new t-shirts.

Yummy nut-free and artificial-free candy!
